The State Forest Research Institute was established in the year 1993. It is fully owned by the State Government and its main resources are from the state aid with a mandate to do research covering the whole of Arunachal Pradesh. The Institute is located at Van Vihar (27004’N & 93036’E), Itanagar in the capital complex along Itanagar – Gohpur road in Papum Pare district. The central location facilitates accessibility to other institutes and organizations situated at Itanagar in addition to better networking with national and regional institutions.
